I enjoyed Run The Jewels II. It’s got some great tracks on it. But I hadn’t listened to El-P & Killer Mike in a while when I stumbled across their video for DJ Shadow’s “Nobody Speak” ( who I was also a fan of).
The video is pretty genius.
Mike and El-P make small cameos, but other than that, it’s a bunch of grown men in a War Room a la Dr. Strangelove lip-synching the lyrics to “Nobody Speak”. And I think the thing that does it for me is that the actors that are spitting the lyrics have the flow down pat and you almost forget that they are lip-synching.
The beat is infectious. The rhymes are infectious. But it’s the video for the track that puts it over the top for me.
